THE GOAL
To update a lake house for a retired couple that wanted to take their home to the next level by adding a “Queen’s Entrance.”
The addition included a new 1-car garage, lavishly furnished full bathroom & renovated laundry room.
The renovation is wrapped with an impressive facade on the front of the house and a new master entrance.
THE PROCESS
The homeowners decided it was time to make some changes and invest in their home. Initially the couple wanted to add the 1-car garage, but they soon decided this was the opportunity to do more.
The couple decided to add on new bathroom, laundry room and update key systems, and also repairing some long overdue siding and roof damage.
Because of the importance of achieving two opposing goals—creating a majestic “Queen’s Entrance” for the newly retired homeowners but also updating and repairing prior damage—our team came up with solutions that ensure value as well as functionality, while also incorporating the client’s’ tastes and design preferences.
The conclusion that best reflects the benefit of the inclusive approach was the decision to add the full bathroom. As the stylish and high-functioning heart of the entrance, the bathroom enhances the value of the home, aesthetically as well as practically.
THE FINAL RESULT
The architecture, interior design, and systems in this house have been updated to create a meaningful environment for the couple, but also to create a place that’s serviceable for groups, whether family or social events.
